Based on real events that took place in the Jewish Ghetto of Vilnius under Nazi Occupation in the years 1942-1943 GHETTO tells the story of a fatal and impossible love-hate relationship between the Nazi officer Kittel, an actor and jazz amateur, and the Jewish star-singer Haya. It leads to the founding of a theatre in the Ghetto. The theatre becomes so popular, successful and bold, that it soon runs out of the control of its founders. Instead of serving their limited purposes and interests, it becomes an unbridled celebration of the human spirit, and of eternal human values.
