In February 2020, an international cruise ship with 3,711 passengers and crew members docked at Yokohama Port. A passenger who disembarked in Hong Kong had been confirmed to be infected with the novel coronavirus. By the time the ship arrived, the virus had already spread within the ship, and more than 100 passengers were showing symptoms. The medical team called into action was the Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT). While they are specialists in disaster response, such as earthquakes and floods, this team had no experience or training to deal with an unidentified virus. However, they were on the front lines of a pandemic. Despite the unknown virus and the danger to their own lives, they continued fighting, never giving up until all the passengers were disembarked. This is a story inspired by true events which had never been reported in the media.
