    • Synopsis
    • “My plan was to die before the money ran out,” says 60-year-old Frances Price (Michelle Pfeiffer), whose beauty and eccentricity have enthralled Manhattan for decades, but things don't go as planned for Frances. Her husband Franklin has been dead for 20 years and with his vast inheritance gone, she cashes in the last of her possessions and resolves to live out her final days anonymously in a modest apartment in Paris, accompanied by her directionless son Malcolm (Lucas Hedges) and 'Small Frank' the family cat. But far from getting away from it all, people just can't seem to leave Frances alone. The apartment becomes filled with people from her old life and added to, by those from her new one. As ever, Frances hosts an imperfect situation with style, as she has always done in her role as a devoted wife and mother. Malcolm will never have a job, and Franklin appears somehow to have morphed into Small Frank (Tracy Letts) and as a cat he is a lot easier to deal with.
