France, 1942. Simon, Léa, Mauricette, Madame Schwartz and Henri, 11, had to split up to cross the demarcation line separating Free France from the zone occupied by the Germans. The Jewish Parisian family is now reunited in the countryside where Maury, a local French peasant, shelters them in a farm outbuilding. Danger is all around. Mauricette is several months pregnant, Madame Schwartz only speaks Yiddish. The clash between two very different worlds... “Free Land” is a film about courage and cowardice that will transport us from laughter to tears.
