    • Synopsis
    • Spirit Anderson is a high school senior with a knack for
      English. She is at the top of her class and one of her high school’s
      most promising students. She often uses her great command of
      the subject to her advantage in the courtyard when she is
      rapping, her favorite pastime. However, with the end of the
      school year approaching, Spirit finds that rapping and academics
      aren’t always perceived as a perfect marriage and with her
      family’s situation, she can’t even afford the wedding. When her
      counselor, Mr. White, implores her to declare a college before it is
      too late, Spirit realizes that there is as much pressure on her regarding her future as is her home life. Spirit must ultimately fight through her fears and forced expectations to find the light that leads her onto her own path.
