    • Synopsis
    • „5 Women“ tells the story of five girlfriends, who meet up every summer at an extensive property in the middle of southern France to enjoy a relaxing break in each other’s company.

After a short while, the women’s paradise is troubled by the sudden appearance of an attractive and mysterious man; a man who tells the women he is looking after his brother who disappeared the night before. A first attempt to banish the intruder quickly fails with two of the women feeling increasingly attracted to the stranger. As the man comes to realize, the women share a dark secret which slowly exposes their hidden and disturbing character flaws.

The film’s dreamlike utopia and its beautiful, sensual backdrop attempt to disguise the inner torment of the characters, though as violence emerges and as lies are uncovered, the women’s deep friendship is slowly torn apart. Soon, the women are confronted by an urgent dilemma – how to protect their secure, sheltered lives from the meddling of a stranger.

“5 Women“ is a refreshing take on the fragility of our civilisation and the bonds holding us together. The film showcases the weakness of our society and how thin its pillars really are, when we perceive threats to our comfortable normality.
