- Synopsis
- In Five Cities, the lives of the five characters are closely bound up with death. A policeman who is painfully in love; a young university student who works as a part-time shop assistant to pay her way; a teacher tormented by guilt because of the crime he committed; a man treated badly by life who sells toy trains and has a thing for poetry; and an 11-year-old boy desperate to be in the school dance team so he can hold the hand of the girl he loves...
  Throughout the film, the lives of these characters change constantly with the irony of fate. Three of them have cancer and know that they are going to die; the other two are murderers and know what it is to kill. So each of them has a more intimate acquaintance with death than us regular human beings.
