    • Synopsis
    • Faraway Song is a feature-length film about young Jimena's late transition into adulthood and her search for a place in the world. Jimena comes from a traditional family from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, and she is responsible for designing the new headquarters for the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra, projected by the reputable architecture firm where she works. She lives with her mother and grandmother, two women for whom she cares dearly and to who she is very close since her childhood. At home, they call her Nina and speak very little of her father, Arturo, who left Brazil and returned to El Salvador when his daughter was 4 years old. After 10 years of absolute silence, Arturo reestablished contact with Jimena, sending letters to her regularly. The letters become part of her daily life and unveil the complex relationship she keeps with her father, simultaneously present and absent. Faraway Song is about a certain moment in the protagonist's life, in which she breaks with convenient relations that were established by her family and takes her path into her own hands: moving out, confronting family matters, embracing love and meeting her father.
