Seiji, a potter, lost his wife early and lives alone in a mountain village. His only son Manabu, temporarily returns home from an assignment in Algeria, with his wife Nadia, who is a former refugee. Manabu declares that he will quit his job and take over the pottery business but Seiji opposes this. One day, Seiji coincidentally meets Marcos by saving him from being chased by a local gang. He was a young Brazilian living in a neighboring town, having a hard time since his father committed suicide. Marcos starts to recall his deceased father in Seiji and becomes interested in pottery. Despite the generation and nationality gaps, or the background of their lives, they become close as if they are real father and son. But soon after, Seiji receives a shocking news from Algeria that Manabu and Nadia are involved in a tragedy.
