- Synopsis
- An express kidnapping is a common type of criminal activity in Latin America. Criminals take someone to an ATM machine and force the victim to withdraw money from his or her bank account. For this reason, ATMs started to remain unavailable from 10:00PM till 6:00AM in Brazil.
  
  Sao Paulo, Brazil. The biggest city in South America, with a population of 11 million. ISABEL, a 25-year-old girl, is leaving a bar in a bohemian neighborhood to meet her boyfriend. She walks towards her car.
  
  MATHEUS, 34, and JAPONÊS, 21, two dwellers from the underprivileged outskirts of São Paulo approach her. They force her to enter the car. Matheus and Japonês are not friends. They have just united forces to perform a series of kidnappings on a Friday night. Isabel is the first victim. They are nervous and so is her.
  
  The first ATM they try to withdraw money from is broken. It’s almost 10:00PM. The two guys realize they will not be able to get to the next one on time and decide to keep her as a hostage until they find a working ATM in the morning.
  
  The three of them spend the night going from one side of town to the other, most of the time in urban highways and in neighborhoods on the outskirts of the city, in order to gain more time and to decide what to ultimately do with Isabel.
  
  A hostage on her own car, Isabel will have to negotiate her position with Matheus and Japonês throughout the entire night. The ending is unexpected and all of her convictions are shaken to know the true identity of her kidnappers.
  
  "Express Kidnapping" is a feature film based on a true story.
