    • Synopsis
    • ET TU is set in a smaller, regional-type city, on an old theater stage, where two Shakespearean tragedies play out. The first - A bloody tale of Julius Caesar, performed by a diverse cast of local actors. While the quaint audience enjoys these familiar thrills, in the blackness of the busy backstage, the second tragedy unfolds - far less familiar than Caesar’s, but no less bloody. The theater play’s director, our protagonist, BRENT (Lou Diamond Phillips) , lurks in the shadows with a sharpened prop dagger. He’s been plagued by violent visions of infidelity and murder, convinced his wife and production manager, NADINE, is having an affair with his idiot leading man, MARCUS. The curtain gives way and blood spills onto the stage. The GHOST (Malcolm McDowell) of the old theatre whistles in the wing. And our quaint audience begins to wonder: who's actually directing this play?

ET TU is a thinking-man’s horror comedy - unapologetically fun, fast-paced and tension-ridden, a heavy mixture of violence and humor, all punctuated by brief moments where the audience sympathizes with our characters’ plight, feeling just a little guilty for laughing at their demise. ET TU is also a satire of the creative process and the production of a live show. At all times, even as bodies start swinging in the rafters, a very real play is taking place on stage, with the frenetic energy of a live theatre production pulsing through the backstage action. We’re telling a ghost story, nested in a tragedy, that’s actually a horror comedy about the theatre. The tone of ET TU is similar to that of proven stage film Birdman with the thrilling pulse of horror classic, The Shining.
