    • Synopsis
    • Esperanza delivers a compelling and warm Chicano "urban folk-tale" about a close-knit Latinx family of rock musicians (all but one in their teens and twenties) suddenly discovered by a major record label; but who still must confront the blatant racism, sexual abuse, homophobia, inner-city crime, and economic disenfranchisement rampant in Los Angeles during the 1970s. In ensuing episodes, their musical success will only amplify the challenges they'll face.

Poignant, romantic and even at times comedic, while featuring original music, Esperanza depicts an authentic and inspiring Latinx drama, that unflinchingly reveals the Mexican American struggle - without being the least bit preachy. Ironically, the social issues dealt with still exist today.
