    • Synopsis
    • “Although the novel seems to be a story based on human themes of ugliness, beauty, envy and passion, I thought about making a film based on Envy, because its story mainly addressed the subject of fate. The story centres on Seniha, whose fate has been determined by her ugliness, and her transformation from passive victim of this fate, to arbitrator of the fate of beauty, which she so abhors. It is, then, an uncommon story about the human soul. I felt that a story which deconstructs beauty, questioning it from the standpoint of ugliness would contribute towards understanding and talking about a painful human condition.”
