    • Synopsis
    • Ebony and Cal still hard at work pursuing and catching criminals. Although work pays the bills, Ebony feels her life should have more meaning. Nicey, a woman with three children, comes into the office asking for Ebony's assistance. Her alleged, baby daddy Juleo, has avoided her and won't take a paternity test. She wants Ebony to track him down and serve him the paternity test papers. Ebony begrudgingly takes the assignment and considers it an end to a means. While waiting for Cal after her part-time gig at the basketball arena, Ebony meets Mac Pendleton, a young up-and-coming basketball star who hopes to sign on with the GMGB Basketball League. His manager, Bryan Calvin, is a flashy, fast-talking, smooth operator who is good at making deals and money. Unbeknownst to Mac, Bryan has produced a sports-enhancing drug and has plans to make Mac the test subject. The GMGB has a week-long combine in which Mac is invited to play. From his unstoppable and overly-aggressive initial combined performances, it looks like the drug works too well.

Meanwhile, Ebony has recurring dreams about her deceased friend Onyx. It is the one case she has never been able to solve. Cal tells Ebony it seems that the only way to move forward is for Ebony to look backward. Ebony looks through a box of Onyx's items she finds a cellphone. Ebony turns on the phone, and Onyx's last video appears. The video runs for about 15 seconds, and the cell phone dies on Ebony. Since the phone is an older model, Ebony thought of the one person who would have that model charger: Ms. Glenda Shaw.

Ebony visits Ms. Glendaas she acknowledgeshaving that model phone. While she retrieves the charger, Ebony notices a video playing on a laptop. The video features Debra Manley an old friend who is now a health and fitness guru.

Ebony goes to sees Debra at one of her yoga classes in the park. As Debra comes out of her Zen state, she sees Ebony and loudly voices her displeasure. Ebony and Debra exchange words about life and what possibly happened to Onyx. Debra has remembered the misunderstanding she and Ebony had in the past. Ebony leaves her card in case Debra changes her mind about clearing the air. Just then, Ebony sees Juleo from her paternity test case. Sometime later, Ebony gets a frantic call from Mac. By the time she and Cal find him, it's too late; they've fallen into Bryan's trap. They save Mac, but unfortunately, Bryan gets shot. With Debra's help, Mac recovers from his injuries and detoxes, returning to a picture of perfect health. Ebony and Cal are guests on The Vonda Watkins Show due to the viral video. The show's topic is "Deadbeat Baby Daddies." Nicey and Juleo are on the show discussing their versions of the “relationship.” When Vonda reveals Juleo is NOT the father, Nicey runs screaming off-camera backstage. Juleo celebrates on stage in front of the audience. We see Ebony shake her head, half disgusted and half in shock. At that moment, Ebony gets a text from Onyx's family about opening the cold case of her murder. Ebony is bewildered and wonders how to move forward.
