    • Chinese artist, Ling Wang, finally realizes her American Dream when she arrives in Detroit to begin a new life teaching at a University. Little does she know that the challenges she left behind in China are difficulties of a different kind in the US. She is guided by a professor who shows her both America and new love.

Haunted by her past, and feeling guilty about leaving her daughter behind with an unkind father, Ling tells her story to Professor Watts as she paints per pain on canvas to explain the horror of watching family members die under Mao's impossible régime.
