    • Social Worker Peyton Farquhar is accused of allowing a child to die on her watch. For this she suffers profound guilt. Rather than being fired, she is sent off to investigate the case of an abused child in her childhood hometown of Dickinson, SC. This journey brings back haunting memories.

      She discovers a frightened little girl, Pixie Bentham, burying her dolls, pulling wings off of black hornets, and... killing the people who love her.

      Peyton's mother haunts her memories. Until Peyton remembers that she killed her own mother. It all becomes clear to Peyton: Dickinson was her hometown—and she was its most famous killer...
