    • A confrontation between Kira (Fujiwara), a justice-seeking vigilante who through ownership of a supernatural notebook has the power over life and death, and L (Matsuyama), a detective who is trying to put a stop to his crimes, results in L losing his life.
      A decade on and havoc appears once again when a Death God known as a Shinigami sends a further 6 notebooks to Earth, resulting in a rash of murders. The notebooks are known as Death Notes and each have a series of arcane rules inscribed in their cover granting the owner the power to kill.
      With the world facing unprecedented danger from those in possession of the books, The Death Note Task Force is formed. Comprised of six investigators including Tsukuru Mishima (Higashide), the team sets up home in the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.
      As murders continue, citizens and governments are put on high alert. Meanwhile, renowned private investigator Ryuzaki (Ikematsu) is drafted in to assist in locating the notebooks and their owners. Soon after, a computer virus begins to spread. It contains an alarming message which drives The Death Note Task Force into a deadly game of cat and mouse.
