    • Synopsis
    • June 1940. An unknown general refuses to see his country defeated by Nazi Germany. He goes to London with no support, no troops, no mandate. Against all odds, enemies and allies alike, he defends the idea of a free France. A few men joined him in the fight. In Paris and Lyon, intrepid young high-school students invent their own fight against the occupier... The diptych retraces the life and political commitment of Charles De Gaulle from 1940 to 1945, right up to his evolution into a political career.

Based on De Gaulle: A Certain Idea of France by Julian Jackson.
