    • Synopsis
    • Switzerland. Marie, (30s), beautiful and strong but wrestling with self-doubts, is a frustrated commercial director who wants to make films. Nico (30s) is the very sexy, very smug womanizing cameraman and photographer who is working with Marie for the first, and probably the last time. They have instant bad chemistry: she has little patience for his macho swagger and he thinks she’s uptight.
Isabelle, Marie’s assistant and friend, invites Marie to her family’s chalet in the alps, hoping she will be inspired to start writing. But Isabelle has also invited Nico. When she is delayed, she sends Marie to drive up alone with Nico. A blizzard hits and Isabelle can’t make it after all, leaving the two stranded alone and cut off from the world in the remote chalet.
The chalet has been in Isabelle’s family for centuries and has a dark history. Marie finds a book of legends from the region and reads about a young woman named Anna who fell in love with her childhood sweetheart, Lucien. The couple was kept apart by her father. After Lucien is sent away to war, Anna discovers that she is pregnant. She is forced into a hasty marriage with Felix, a wealthy and cruel widower who lives in complete isolation high in the mountains. The Story resolves to a horrifying fate.
Marie is haunted by the story, especially when she turns the page and discovers a portrait of Anna, who looks exactly like her. Could she be the reincarnation of the tragic woman?
Meanwhile, Nico was invited by Isabelle to the chalet to use the darkroom in the basement. But when he tries to print his photos, images appear of Marie and himself…in the 18th century: they are clearly the tragic Anna and Lucien. Soon, the spirits of the past appear and demand to be heard. Anna and Lucien’s 5-year old daughter begs them not to abandon her and Felix will stop at nothing to keep them apart. The darkroom becomes a portal to the past, where they search for clues to resolve the mystery.
Over the course of the next terrifying days, Marie and Nico try desperately to escape, but the spirits, the chalet and nature itself conspire to keep them there until they completely transform into Anna and Lucien and change the course of their tragic history.
