    • Synopsis
    • Romano tells his life story to Pavel, a Russian businessman he has met in the restaurant of the steamship where he is a waiter. Having married Elisa, the only daughter of a banker, while he was still very young, Romano has slowly lost his youthful enthusiasm for an easy life. After the umpteenth argument with Elisa. on whose family's fortune he depends, Romano goes to a health spa where he meets Anna, a fascinating Russian woman with a puppy, and he gains her sympathy and love. Content, though shaken by an unexpected passion and happiness, Anna goes back to Russia and leaves him a letter. Madly in love, Romano leaves for Russia too with the excuse of an inexistent job and, after a long journey, finds Anna married to a self-centered person of some importance in a small town. Romano tells Anna that he has decided to live with her forever and abandon Elisa and the family. He goes back to ltaly for a divorce, but after talking to Elisa, who has understood everything, he changes his mind and tries to target Anna. Years later, his arguments with Elisa convince Romano to leave his family. Fascinated and moved by Romano's tale, Pavel goes back up to the deck to calI his wife, with whom he is on honeymoon, and present her to his new friend but ...
