    • Synopsis
    • Czech Swan is a humorous and uplifting story about a group of pensioners from a small Czech village, whose age doesn't stop them from pursuing their dreams and caprices with unbeatable enthusiasm.
Hanna and her eleven friends are members of a locally famous dancing group Majorettes, with only two years left before they can celebrate its 15th anniversary.
Always trying to try something new, when they notice that their usual cancan routine does not excite audience’s enthusiasm as it used to, they decide to incorporate the famous ballet piece from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake into their repertoire.
Without giving it much thinking they ask Igor Vejsada, the director of the nearby Ostrava Ballet, for help. Igor bewitched by their energy and determination appoints his debutant soloist Marketa Pospisilova to give ladies a proper ballet training.
Marketa is a shy, perfectionist young ballerina in the middle of preparations for her professional debut as White Swan in Tchaikovsky’s Swan’s Lake. Majorettes find it difficult to fulfil her high expectations during exhausting training sessions and Marketa finds it equally hard to open up emotionally in front of Majorettes’ honest, unpolished demeanour.
After initial moments of distrust and funny clashes, their love of dance and passion allows them to find a common moment of transcendence.
