    • Synopsis
    • The fourth of four screenplays in Fay Efrosini Lellios’ Greek/Americana work tells the story of a kilim woven in the Grand Bazaar of Istanbul in the early 20th Century and the journey it takes both in its homeland and once it leaves Turkey.

As the kilim makes its way from place to place, we get to know several members of three families who currently live in Istanbul, France and Joshua Tree, California; families who connect in our story.

We begin with Bija who is on a work holiday with her boyfriend Steven in Joshua Tree. Bija has recently lost her sister, deciding if she should continue her studies. They eventually meet Magda, Kaliam and Kahv also on holiday at the same Inn; who are vacationing from France as Kaliam is not in the best of health. We are to learn that Kahv too lost a sibling; a deep connection between Bija and Kahv is quickly formed.

Years later, Bija has finished her studies and finds herself in France. She visits with Kahv, Kaliam and Magda at Vaux-le-Vicomte; where they live and still tend to the gardens as Kaliam’s health has improved. The chateau is owned by a wonderful family headed by Tibourg, Olive and their two young daughters. Tibourg met Magda, Kaliam and Kahv in a Paris train station many years ago when the three were down on their luck after fleeing Turkey during the horrific days of the Septemvriana.

Bija has arrived in Vaux during the annual festival of Journee Grand Siecle, to celebrate, catch-up and reminisce. Kahv’s girlfriend, Aliki, also shows up for the festival.

After the festivities, Kahv brings Bija back to Paris, for her flight back to the U.S.…

Will Kahv and Bija end up together? Will they finally be able to release the pain of losing their siblings? As the kilim takes us from country to country, family member to family member, we witness years of each character’s life events and struggles that eventually lead us to more than just these answers…
