There is a place in the world where all the music converges. The beautiful Río de la Plata, between Argentina and Uruguay, is the region where completely different genres like Tango, Rock, Candombe and Milonga first met, giving birth to the Song from the Río de la Plata, our own very unique music.

    • Synopsis
    • Moved by the certainty that some music genres, such as Milonga, are universal, Pablo Dacal, a musician and a researcher, sets out on a voyage upstream in search for the origins of the popular music of the Rio de la Plata: from rock ‘n roll and psychedelia to cumbia, murga, tango and folk music.

Pablo will find himself completely immersed in this journey and he will expore the deepest layers of our cultural history. With the help of his friends from both shores, he will go on a path down history, digging into our roots and going deep into the conversation, sealing every situation with musical exchanges.

At the end of the journey, which serves as a powerful retrospective on the origins of our music, one of the foundational scenes of the rioplatense music takes place: a payada (music improvisation duel) between two residents from opposite banks of the river.
