    • Synopsis
    • Shot entirely in the Municipality of Topola, Serbia, a cultural documentary “51st Oplenac Festival Wine Harvest 2014"
This documentary presents the hard working people of Topola, celebrating the harvest of 2014. Over the course of the Festival we follow the locals, tourists, and seasoned vintners having fun.
Along the way, we meet the Mayor of Topola, who will chat with us about the harvest, what it means to the local economy and Ljilja the Director of the tourism organization will tell us about the development of local tourism and the special awards they have won, for incoming tourists.
The celebrations offer something for everyone from Music, poetry, traditional folklore dancing; crafts from the past and present, family activities and wine tasting tents abound throughout the festival area.
You will have a unique opportunity to learn about various styles of music; and the Instruments which play a major role in music tradition of Serbia. We are interested in the local salt-of-the-earth, tight-knit family farmers/winemakers, who are the backbone of the wine industry, instead of large corporations, thus revealing a glimpse of Serbian traditional celebrations.
Topola is known as Serbia’s “Toskana” and the home to the Karadjordjevic Royal dynasty and their historical Vineyards, and we have the privilege to take you on this Royal journey with The Crown Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic.

The story builds up to the final act of ultimate exhaustion, relief and for some satisfaction, especially in the year of 2014, when Serbia had its worst floods in a hundred years, creating one of the worst harvests in a while. This is the story behind the festival, the wine you drink and the country people of Serbia whose hearts are open to all tourists, no matter what they personally had to endure during these tough times.
It is the spirit of Serbia - the hospitality - which can be witnessed in The Oplenac Wine Harvest of 2014.
