    • Synopsis
    • Based on bestseller by acclaimed writer Jorge Amado. A gang of street kids known as “ Captains of the Sands” are haunted like criminals in the town of Salvador, Bahia. They commit petty thefts to sophisticated mansion robberies. In the bars of the port they con the sailors at cards and gaze at the beautiful mulatto prostitutes. Their shelter is an abandoned warehouse on a beach, where they learn “Capoeira” to defend themselves. Abandoned by all, they survive together based on a brotherhood. In their boys only gang, they discover love when a young orphan girl joins them. A year in the lives of these kids. A year in which they are heroes, fly like birds, have wonderful dreams, visit hell, discover sex, love, death, and freedom.
