    • Synopsis
    • Montserrat Caballé was -without a doubt- the best soprano in history. An illustrious artist recognized around the world, always surrounded by success, fame, glamour... But once upon a time, her life wasn’t all glitz and glam. This is her story:
Cold winters, evictions and her father’s lifelong illness deeply scarred Montserrat’s youth. She was talented, but her parents couldn’t afford the costs of her musical education. Her career could have ended before even starting had it not been for the unexpected help of the Bertran family, renowned patrons of the city. Nevertheless, nothing came easy, and more often than not her character clashed against the expectations of a higher class that seemed devoted to never acknowledge her talents. She had no choice but to leave and pave her own destiny: Italy, Switzerland, Germany...
The European Operas and her didn’t seem to get along as well. Caballé wasn’t like the other singers.
Taken aback by her character -both rude and direct- she still lacked class and manners... Faced against so much rejection, the fear of failure soon would become her worst enemy. The self-imposed pressure and the lack of economic resources would always keep her walking on a tightrope, making her question the very purpose behind her own dreams.
Her brother Carlos Jr working at the Barcelona harbour, her mother breaking her back as a seamstress, Montserrat herself bartending in a restaurant... All of them trying to keep the ship afloat, sustain Montserrat’s incipient career all the while her father’s health kept worsening. What if Montserrat never makes it? What if the talent they all see in her is not real?
The pressure on her increasingly grows more intense and stage fright arises as her worst enemy.
It will only be thanks to the help of those who love her that she will fulfill her dreams and -once and for all- emerge as the best soprano in history.
