- ‘Broken Sunflower Hearts’ is a single cam half-hour drama with the layers and complexity of ‘This Is Us’ and infused with the tone and humor of ‘Girls.’ It’s about a queer couple who adopt a four-year-old girl after her mother’s untimely death. It follows Anthony, a Latinx counselor at a high school, and Sam, a younger carefree man with a harsh past, as they try their best to work out their differences and adjust to being new parents. The show takes place in a world where fast-paced living collides with responsibilities as a diverse group of friends struggle to find connection and love in a sometimes harsh city.
  
  Anthony goes through life with a void, not knowing what happened to his father after he abruptly left the family many years ago. Sam is still exploring his sexuality and purpose while battling his addiction demons. Nora is shielding herself from being hurt again after a rough divorce from an abusive man. Danny has just moved to LA from Chicago to start a new life and escape the troubled past that landed him in prison. These unlikely friends will navigate life in the city of Angels, enjoy great times, and learn life’s harsh lessons. They will stick together regardless of their differences; they’ll redefine what it means to be family and fight against becoming cynical in their search for happiness.
