Hampstead, London: 1820: Fanny Brawne is a vibrant 18 year old. Stylish, energetic and emotionally charged, she has many suitors and is expected to marry well. Through her quick wit and passion for life, she attracts the attention of the precociously talented poet, John Keats, a lively yet vulnerable young man. Their playful flirtation quickly develops into a passionate affair. But in a time where money and status prevail, the couples' feelings alone are not enough to seal their engagement. Keats' good friend and fellow poet, Mr Brown, instils in Keats the futility of their affair, convincing him to move away with the facade that their relationship is destroying his artistic abilities - a move that induces in Fanny a longing that nears insanity. But as situations lead to them living side by side in the same house, the pair become inseperable, and Keats' infatuation becomes his muse for a new, inspired poetry. However, as Keats' declining health forces a move to Italy, the pair are torn apart, painfully aware they will never see each other again.
