    • Synopsis
    • Christos (60) – a tough, headstrong rationalist – is diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). The disease is always fatal for all patients. Desperate, he decides to travel to Brazil and meet the world-renowned healer João de Deus. As the disease has already paralysed his legs, Christos needs the assistance of an escort. However, no one is willing to follow him in this eccentric quest; not even Nadia (40), the woman he has been having a passionate but turbulent affair with. And so, Christos is forced to employ his son’s best friend, Alexis (30) – a lazy “artist”, leading an aimless life. The two men are radically different and their trip is full of underlying tension. Christos and Alexis arrive in Brazil and reach João’s reservation camp – a unique place full of rituals and mysteries. To Christos, it all looks as if it’s a theme park for the dying, so for him this whole expedition is a big mistake. Until after contacting Nadia, he finds out that she is unwilling to stay with him since he is dying and she refuses to carry this kind of burden anymore. Christos, shocked and disappointed, decides to turn his logic upside down completely and this time to go all the way embracing João’s teachings, to the letter. Meanwhile, the friction with Alexis’s ambiguous temperament pushes him to the extend of unlocking his hidden need and desire to come in terms with his fate and to realise that this process could be the very personal miracle he so desperately needs.
