    • Synopsis
    • A recently orphaned 12 year old boy is sent to a musical boarding school by an anonymous donor – no-one expected this rebellious loner to achieve the standards required to join the Boy Choir – a choral band of brothers who travel the world and maintain the school’s famed status.
A host of colourful characters populate this school:
Stet – from the wrong side of the track, an undisciplined troublemaker who is damaged by his upbringing, bewildered and abandoned after his mother’s death; with an unexpected, natural talent for singing – an unpolished diamond.
Carvelle (Dustin Hoffman) – an exacting and precise choral head teacher – a leader dedicated to the achievement of excellence who expects the choir to share his high standards. His authority is unchallenged by pupils and teachers alike. He doesn’t suffer fools but above all he can unlock hidden talent.
Drake – a disciplinarian who reveals a more caring side when he gives Stet advice on his audition.
Headmistress (Kathy Bates) – slightly out of touch, well-meaning and pragmatic – she accepts Stet into the school half way through a term in exchange for a hefty donation.
Wooly – discovers the extent of Stet’s talent – a fun teacher and warm, light-hearted personality.
Ms. Steel (Debra Winger) – school administrator who first recognises Stet’s talent – kindly, nurturing and believes in Stet. Ms. Steel has always fought his corner.
Gerard – wealthy, successful, but hiding from the truth; he can’t admit to his wife that he has fathered an illegitimate child.
Devon – Stet’s rival and top dog in the choir; jealous and vindictive when his pole position is challenged.
Starring Academy Award® winner Dustin Hoffman and directed by François Girard, visionary director of Cirque Du Soleil and Academy Award® winning The Red Violin, Boy Choir discovers that there is brilliance in everyone if only you dare to dream.
