      Here’s your bento!
The “harassment bento” blog by “Kaori (ttkk)” that topped the daily Ameba blog ranking captured media attention with “character bento (chara-ben)” of stunning quality. Her most impressive bento and posts were compiled in “Kyomo Iyagarase Bento (tr. Harassment Bento Again Today)” (published by Sansai Books), a record-breaking essay that sold 200,000 copies. It has now been adapted into a movie with a loving message at the end that is sure to touch your heart. In addition to Ryoko Shinohara who stars as the mother and Kyoko Yoshine who plays the rebellious schoolgirl, the cast includes Ryuta Sato, Rena Matsui, and Kanta Sato. It is directed and written by Renpei Tsukamoto of 700 Days of Battle: Us vs. the Police and Leon, who delivers a humorous, vivid portrayal of the characters who live in the grand nature of Hachijo Island. And “Just have fun!,” the theme song written for this film by the buzzed-about band Friends, leaves an uplifting, breezy feeling with the viewers of this heartwarming movie about a mother and daughter and bento.
A movie adaptation of a harassment bento essay compiled from a popular blog by a single mother on Hachijo Island who continued to make chara-ben for her rebellious daughter all throughout her three years of high school.

      【STORY】
Hachijojima – a small Japanese island with beautiful blue waters and lush green mountains is home to a single mother and her high school daughter who is going through the “rebellious phase.”
The girl who used to call her “Mommy” now totally ignores her and doesn’t even answer when spoken to. The exasperated mother seeks revenge using “bentos” (home-made boxed lunches) as her weapon. She names them “Iyagarase Bento” (Revenge Lunches) and for three long years, sends her teenaged daughter to school with cute mascot characters and sweet messages just to embarrass her.
Whether she comes home late from work or from drinking, she never fails to make her daughter a bento lunch dripping with sugar-coated messages of love. The daughter is appalled, but gradually, their bond deepens.
Time flows slowly on Hachijojima. The story of a mother’s love will resonate with all teens going through the “rebellious phase.”
After three long years, the final “bento” message is a “thank you letter” from mother to daughter. This true “bento” story, full of laughter and tears, is also a universal tale of mother-daughter love!
