Ben Stiller and Colin Farrell star in Andrew Haigh’s true crime story of a prisoner given a chance at redemption by a literary sensation in 1980’s New York City. By the makers of FURIOSA: A MAD MAX SAGA, WONKA, JOKER, and SULLY, Village Roadshow.
Norman Mailer (Stiller) is the epicenter of the literary world. Jack Henry Abbott (Farrell), Federal Prisoner 87098-132, ends up becoming source material for Mailer’s latest true crime novel. Struck by his talent and convinced he could become the posterchild of redemption, Mailer pushes for Abbott’s release. And with his help, Abbott quickly becomes the literary “it boy” of New York City. His rise, however, ends with a crashing fall in this true story that leaves us questioning who are the heroes and who are the villains.
