    • Synopsis
    • “Bécquer and the Witches” is a creative documentary that follows the life of Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer, the most-read poet in the Spanish language, the origins of witchcraft, and the history of the Inquisition.

In 1864, Bécquer was ill and travelled to the Monastery of Veruela (Aragón) to recover.

To satisfy his romantic spirit, he wandered the nearby villages and discovered the old town of Trasmoz: The Witches’ Village, the only place officially damned by the Church with the psalm 108. Still today, the Pope is the only one who can free the town from the curse.
