    • Synopsis
    • The Canadian Beaver is causing an irreversible damage to the Chilean Patagonia. This species was introduced there by humans almost 70 years ago. Finding no predators to produce a natural balance, beavers have completely modified the landscape of Tierra del Fuego with their dams.
Derek and Giorgia, a young couple of Chilean scientists, have structured their lives around this conflict. They share a deep love for each other, and also a fascination for beavers. A few years ago, they left everything and settled in Tierra del Fuego to study this animals. Since then, they have been traveling through Patagonia in an RV looking for ways to end the plague. During their trip, they run into some of the scarce local inhabitants: an obsessive, penguin-lover park ranger; a melancholic rancher, and an old, retired taxidermist, all of which hate beavers. Derek and Giorgia spread the word of their radical solution: it’s humans place to hunt and eat the plague.
Beaverland follows the characters along their journey across the astounding southern landscapes, giving account of an environmental conflict that has been kept in silence. It’s the portrait of an invasion and it’s consequences, building to a reflection about our own relationship with nature.
