- Synopsis
- World War I nears its end. Two
  childhood friends, Stefano and
  Giulio, serve as medical officers
  in the same hospital, treating soldiers from the
  front. Stefano, from an ambitious political family,
  obsessively hunts self-inflicted wounds, seeing
  himself as both doctor and enforcer, Giulio,
  gentler and averse to blood, dreams of a career
  in biology. Their friend Anna, defying societal
  barriers, works with the Red Cross. Strange
  complications arise in patients’ wounds, sparking
  suspicion of sabotage, Anna begins to investigate.
  Meanwhile, a deadly infection spreads, hitting
  soldiers and civilians harder than the war itself.
