Rafael Serrano Toro (Barrabás) is, with seventy two years old, a writer with more than three decades of experience in literature and journalism. At the same time he is a popular artist, lecturer and social worker, all work which he was named Cutural Heritage of Guárico State. Nevertheless, almost everybody knows him for other reasons: during the sixties he was, for the mass media and for the State, public enemy number one. Innumerable thefts, escapes, and an assassination made him, through the pages of the newspapers, into a ¨monster¨. And he paid for it: twenty-seven years, of which he completed seventeen until, in 1977, he was released by good conduct. Since his liberation, Barrabás has dedicated himself to paying a debt he contracted with society. Nevertheless, up to the date, the society has not tried to do the same thing, and the debt that the country has with him is still unpaid.
