- The Amazonian Rain Forest, in the 80s. The epic story of a gold rush of modern times in Serra Pelada, the biggest open-pit mine. Two best friends, Juliano and Joaquim, leave Rio de Janeiro to try their luck like thousands of poor men across the country. But life at the mine changes everyone and everything. Power and greed quickly destroy the dream and reveal the dark side of human nature. The loyal and fun Juliano is transformed into a violent gangster and even his best friend is not safe from his fury. He starts a dangerous liaison with the beautiful bride of the most powerful man in town, Carvalho.
