- Synopsis
- The talented Hamoudi (11) lives for soccer, and his biggest dream is to be as good as his soccer hero Messi one day. When Hamoudi gets involved in a gruesome suicide attack one day, he wakes up severely injured in the hospital. While his parents do everything they can to keep the family safe, Hamoudi fights to still achieve his dream.
  
  "Baghdad Messi" is the latest film from acclaimed Belgian-Kurdish director Sahim Omar Kalifa ("Zagros"), based on his personal experiences. The eponymous short film won 60 international awards and was selected for the Academy Awards in 2015. This will be the first film in which The Searchers acts as co-producer.
