  Andé Heller's circus AFRICA! AFRICA! is a major event in Europe where the show is constantly sold out weeks prior to its premiere. 120 acrobats, dancers, artists and musicians from the African continent perform in the show. Always drawing on the circus and its highlights, Othmar Schmiderer's film switches from Europe to Africa and back, tracing the origins of four performers in their home countries. The life shown in Africa opens a new dimension within the documentation of the vibrating microcosm of the circus; the confrontation of the show's fascinating African rhythm and the reality in Africa itself reveals a contrast that causes the viewer to understand and reevaluate his Euro-centric image of the continent.
