    • Synopsis
    • Based on a true character, Asmaa is an Egyptian woman who’s HIV positive, and has
been living in secrecy and shame, hiding the truth about her disease from everybody
around her, including her own daughter whom she raised after the death of her
husband. For months, she suered from successive colic bladder stones, a case that
can be treated with surgery. Yet due to her HIV positive status, no doctor has been
willing to carry out the procedure; some out of ignorance and fear, and other due to
society’s misconception of HIV positive people as immoral sinners. Her fate brings
her an oer for a spot on a famous TV talk show presented by one of the Arab worlds’
leading TV personalities. The catch here is that she must expose her identity and her
HIV status, which is an act no Egyptian dared to take. With only hours to decide,
Asmaa must choose between social and psychological
suicide, and a slow physical death.
