    • Synopsis
    • This story will take you back to the mid-eleventh century. Granddaughter of Vladimir I Anne was among the most beautiful and highly educated princesses. Her father was Yaroslav the Wise, Grand Prince of Kyiv Rus, who united all the lands of Kyiv Rus under his rule. Henry I of France, of the House of Capet, twice sent messengers to ask for the hand of the princess in marriage. And so Anne became queen. Henry was the grandson of Hugh Capet — the first crowned monarch of France. Leaving the Kyiv, Anne discovered a country in ruins after two centuries of war and unrest. But the young queen loved her new country and supported her husband in his constant struggle with his brother and mother to raise France. Anne’s wisdom and holiness were even acknowledged by Pope Nicholas II. She united the French lands and brought an end to the fratricidal war of the previous ten years. Inspired by father, she introduced new laws and brought peace and tranquility to the French people.
