Marina MELIANDE (DUAS MARIOLA), Samuel CHAUVIN (PROMENADES FILMS), Cesar GARRIDO
Synopsis
Costa Rica, 90's. Three popular environmental leaders, at the center of a legal and media battle against a paper company, are found dead in the rubble of their home. First, we follow Fernando, a pro-government deputy estranged from his daughter, his environmental defender, who he has to recognize in the morgue as one of the victims of a supposedly accidental fire. The following story is through Marina and the environmental organization that she leads. With nostalgia for a truncated utopia, we see her deal with evil forces without distinguishing the future that awaits her. The closing episode takes us to the foreshortening of Elena, a gossip reporter who finds the evidence that the fire was deliberate. Fernando persuades her to go after the truth despite the fact that keeping silent about it would allow her to continue with her carefree life, and exposing the facts puts her in the spotlight of environmental activism.
