    • The waves crash on Kuta beach, Bali, and it’s white sands are silent witnesses to the tenacity of Bulan Trisna, a little girl living a harsh life. From the moment school is over until sundown, she can be seen walking along Kuta’s shoreline, selling her wares. Rain or shine, she always keeps her spirit up because she must earn money to buy medicine for Kompyang Raka, her beloved ailing grandfather. Bulan is a smart and skillful singer and dancer. She is frequently able to use her ability to attract sympathy from tourists to buy her wares. In her spare time Bulan goes to her secret hideaway, a little cave.In the cave she often talks, laughs, and tells stories to her mother who in reality had passed away. Her uncle Oom Panji, lives quite comfortably and works as manager for a famous art gallery. Sadly, since the death of Bulan’s father, Oom Panji had kept his distance and avoids her seeming to be ashamed of the fact that his niece is a street vendor. One day a French tourist visits the gallery and becomes captivated by the ‘Angel’s Cry’ statued by Bulan. This statue symbolizes a child in her mother’s loving embrace. Since then Bulan becomes a hot topic in her village, but the exitement does not effect Bulan because of her anger toward Kevin, the friend who sold the statue given by Bulan as asgin of their friendship. The statue becomes highly valued and is said to represent classic Balinese art. People who used to look down on Bulan are now very friendly toward her, including Oom Panji. How will it affect her friendship with Kevin? What will be her reaction when Kevin’s parents, who have genuine affection for her, offered to adopt? What will become of her ailing grandfather if she leaves him? Will she leave her grandfather to finally embrace a mother’s love that she had wanted
      for so long?
