As a child, Ryota Hironaga had to watch his parents’ divorce and his father leave home.
Many years later, as an adult, Ryota finds himself in charge of his father’s struggling glass factory in Nagasaki, which had been driven to the brink of bankruptcy. Despite harsh conditions, Ryota has managed to keep the business afloat. He is also a divorcee and has children whom he no longer sees.
Ryota has an elder brother, Shoichi, who is habitually lying. One day, Shoichi tells Ryota that he had spotted their father on a city street, but Ryota is doubtful. Also, Ryota learns from his present wife, Yurie, that she is pregnant. Through these events, Ryota comes to ask himself if his first marriage with his own children failed as he had not known about his father.
So Ryota decides to believe his brother and the two go in search of their father. Despite these efforts, nothing seems to bring them closer to finding their father until Ryota begins to recall repressed memories of his childhood that shed light on the true circumstances of their father’s disappearance; the abandonment, the brushing away of a son’s hand, and the potential link between his parents’ divorce and a mysterious disappearance at the glass factory…
