Synopsis
French Basque country, 1609. The region’s men have gone to sea. One night, along with the other village girls, 20-year-old Amaia attends her first party in the woods. At dawn, the girls are arrested. Judge Pierre de Lancre has been summoned by Henri IV to purify the region and accuses the girls of witchcraft. Convinced he has stumbled upon his best case yet, he is determined to get the girls to confess everything they know about the Sabbath, the magic ceremony during which the devil is meant to commend his servants and copulate with them.
Amaia initially resists the judge before gradually entering into his game. Savage and cunning, she will progressively take the reigns in an increasingly intimate duel, one in which de Lancre becomes the victim of his own fantasies, abandoning all reason…
