    • Synopsis
    • Anthony is a successful gay Chicano living a seemingly charmed albeit inflexible life in Los Angeles. He actively guards himself against all forms of intimacy due to deep psychological wounds left by his father's abandonment decades prior. Incapable of feeling deep emotion, Anthony has only a surface relationship with his boyfriend of 4 years, and rarely visits his dementia-inflicted mother, whom he banished to a convalescent home.

Anthony's life is turned upside down when he receives news that his long-absent father is still alive but on his deathbed in rural Mexico. Searching for answers, Anthony reluctantly embarks on a journey to the small village of Acuitzeramo in Michoacan, Mexico, to confront his father, who abandoned him as a child. Upon arriving, Anthony is met by Salvador, a stoic and humble elder, who reveals his father died just minutes prior.

Anthony discovers that his father was in a 20-year relationship with Salvador. He is then thrust into a journey of devastating familial secrets, meeting a crew of resilient queer elders that alter his life forever.
