    • Poland is one of the countries with the most restrictive abortion legislation. This has not always been the case. In 1956, Communist Poland was one of the first countries in Europe to liberalize abortion. With the fall of communism, the growing influence of the Church in political life has led to the virtual disappearance of this right.
