    • Synopsis
    • This is the story of PEMA (22), married to TASHI (28), a Himalayan trader. Pema lives a normal life with Tashi and his elderly father in a mountain village. Tashi has two brothers, KARMA (25), a monk who lives in the monastery and younger brother LAKPA (20) is in India.
Their lives drastically change when Tashi’s father dies when he is away for the trade. There is no news of Tashi for months and people fear for the worst. Villagers summons Tashi’s brothers for the funeral rituals of their father and also to hand over the family estate to them as they are now responsible for the family and their common wife Pema (polyandry marriage).
Karma and Lakpa both find an excuse and leave Pema alone in the village. Pema tries to wait for Tashi but alone; she struggles and temporarily moves to her parent’s home, far away. Her parent forces Pema to get married to a rich local widower Dawa (40). She rebels and runs away. Pema is headed to meet Karma at his monastery. She begs Karma to leave the monastic vows and formally accept her as his wife but he declines. However, he promises her to help her search his older brother Tashi, the father of her unborn child.
Pema and Karma together they travel deep in the Himalayas looking for Tashi but in fact, it turns out to be their journey inwards. This epic journey with numerous ups and downs transform their lives and ‘liberates’ them from their samsaric ‘suffering’. And they both find what they were looking for and even more.
In the end, Pema learns to overcome numerous hurdles put forward by her physical condition, nature as well by her companion. The journey shapes her into an "awakened" strong woman who learns the meaning of love, sacrifice, compassion, family, home and life itself in a greater way, which transformed her into the new identity for survival.
