- Synopsis
- Simao has been lying in a hospital bed unconscious for 40 years. His friends, who once shared a carefree youth with him, feel trapped by an invisible tether that keeps them bound. The long and slow passage of time has brought Baobei, Sunjie, Mianyang, and A-wen through ups and downs in life. However, Simao, motionless in bed, remains unchanged. "Time" has altered the appearances and circumstances of everyone around him and transformed the city of Taipei they live in, but it has not changed the fact that Simao is the center of their lives. Unable to leave him behind, each of them has questioned whether Simao is the undisputable reality. Perhaps they are merely characters coming in and out of his dream. Simao himself believes so, too. Since the moment he fell into the pool, he has been awake, receptive to the encounter in Baobei, Sunjie, Mianyang, and A-wen’s life. Indeed, it is because Simao has had enough time to pause and observe everything that has happened.
