- Synopsis
- Young and talented Han van Meegeren is a rebel in the early 1920's Amsterdam art-scene. When he falls in love with the wife of an acknowledged art expert, his rival does everything to discredit his paintings as uninspired copies of Rembrandt and Vermeer. To prove his critic’s ignorance, he produces a fake Vermeer. But soon things develop a dynamic of their own and Han continues to make money of his forgeries. One day, high ranking Nazi Hermann Göring knocks on his door, looking for a Vermeer for his private collection...
